In a significant move towards sustainable urban development, a delegation from the North West Housing Corporation (NWHC), led by CEO Bishop Sello Mogodiri, paid a visit to Midvaal Water Company. The visit aimed to assess Midvaal Water’s capacity to support the ambitious mega and smart city projects planned for the North West province.

The tour follows closely on the heels of a visit by North West Premier Mr. Lazarus Kagiso Mokgosi just two weeks ago. It also marks nearly a year since the two entities entered into a cooperation agreement to secure a reliable water supply for future developments.

A First-Hand Look at Midvaal’s Capabilities

Stepping onto the grounds of Midvaal Water’s treatment facilities, Bishop Mogodiri was visibly impressed.

“I am overwhelmed by what I have just seen,” he shared. “Without a doubt, Midvaal Water has what it takes to supply much-needed water to our ten smart and mega cities across the North West province.”

With state-of-the-art infrastructure and well-maintained facilities, Midvaal Water’s capacity to meet the demand was evident. Bishop Mogodiri emphasized that this partnership is more than just strategic—it’s essential.

“The match between North West Housing Corporation and Midvaal Water is made in heaven. It’s a perfect fit that will not only benefit our future residents but also the neighboring towns and villages.”

A Roadmap for Implementation

To turn their vision into reality, the NWHC and Midvaal Water have agreed to form a joint technical team dedicated to developing a concrete implementation plan. Bishop Mogodiri stressed the urgency of the matter:

“We expect this team to work with the requisite speed and urgency to ensure that an implementation plan is finalized and rolled out without delay.”

Midvaal’s Commitment to Sustainable Development

Midvaal Water’s CEO, Mr. Matshedisho Dikoko, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, emphasizing the company’s commitment to supporting the province’s growth.

“We are elated that the CEO of the North West Housing Corporation and his delegation visited us as part of efforts to secure a reliable source of bulk potable water for these transformative projects,” said Mr. Dikoko.

“As we pointed out to Premier Mokgosi, we reiterate our commitment to resolving the water challenges facing our province. We are making our spare water capacity available to ensure the successful implementation of the NWHC’s noble vision. This initiative will not only provide decent housing but also create jobs and other economic opportunities for the people of the North West province.”

With plans underway to build the necessary pipelines and infrastructure, this collaboration between Midvaal Water and the NWHC is set to have far-reaching benefits beyond the boundaries of the planned developments.
