Endpoint to Doringkruin/Muranti Pipeline Replacement Project (Including. Endpoint Pumpstation Upgrade)

Overview:
This critical infrastructure project was initiated in response to a major sinkhole along the N12 in Stilfontein, which posed significant risks to both water supply and transportation. The project includes the replacement and augmentation of pipelines to ensure a stable and sufficient potable water supply to key growth areas in the northern suburbs of Klerksdorp, such as Flamwood, Doringkruin, Wilkoppies, and La Hoff.

Key Highlights:

Replacement of a 5 km pipeline section, increasing capacity from 400 mm to 700 mm in diameter.
Replacement of an additional 8.2 km pipeline section, with similar capacity upgrades.
Upgrade of the Endpoint Pumpstation for improved efficiency and reliability.
Total project investment: R164 million.

Challenges and Progress:
Despite delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic and sourcing of imported materials, significant progress has been achieved. Completion is projected for the first quarter of 2025.
